CIHR funds UBC Applied Science research on climate resilience, more effective vaccines
Nine projects led or co-led by UBC Applied Science-affiliated researchers are being awarded more than $3.6 million through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Project Grants: Fall 2022 competition.
The Project Grant program is designed to “capture ideas with the greatest potential to advance health-related fundamental or applied knowledge, health research, health care, health systems, and/or health outcomes.”
Funded UBC Applied Science projects range from research in the School of Nursing to understand and enhance older Canadians’ climate resilience, to work in the School of Biomedical Engineering to develop the next generation of mRNA vaccines that will ultimately be more effective and have longer-lasting immunity.
A total of 67 projects led by UBC researchers were awarded more than $30 million in combined funding through the CIHR Awards (full list of recipients).
