Applied Science assists UBC and external awarding agencies in a small number of awards and scholarships because they limit the number of applicants that can be put forward by any one Faculty or Institution.
Indigenous Student Awards
Awards have been made available annually by for current and prospective First Nations, Inuit or Métis students of Canada in the Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) program. For more information, visit: EDI.I Awards

C.D. Howe Scholarship Endowment Fund National Engineering Scholarship
Are you anticipating finishing first year with a first class standing? If so, you could be eligible for this scholarship.
The C.D. Howe scholarship is open to Canadian engineering students entering second year of their bachelor of engineering degree program.
Amount: $7,500 per academic year until a first degree is obtained
Deadline: May 12, 15:00 PST for the Faculty of Applied Science. (Please note that in fairness to students who submit on time, late submissions will not be considered.)
Order of the White Rose
The Order of the White Rose scholarship is open to women engineering graduates planning to pursue an MASc or PhD in engineering.
Amount: $30,000
Deadline: June 17, 2022 at 15:00 (3:00 pm) Pacific Standard Time (PST)
Premier Undergraduate Scholarships and Wesbrook Scholars Award
The Premier Undergraduate Scholarships and Wesbrook Scholars are the University's most prestigious designations, given to senior students with outstanding academic performance, leadership, and involvement in student and community activities. Eligible students will be emailed with an invitation to attend an information session in September.
Amount: $1,000 each to renewable scholarships worth $20,000 over two years.
Deadline: October 12, 2021.
Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation (CEMF) – Undergraduate Ambassador Awards
These awards promote engineering and recognize female student leaders with the potential to be impactful role models. If successful in securing the award you will be required to speak in front of a high school audience and to continue to remain involved in community or extracurricular endeavours.
Amount: $5,000-10,000
Deadline: Last day of classes in December for the Faculty of Applied Science.
UBC Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Award
In recognition of the valuable role that teaching assistants play in our undergraduate programs, the university annually awards teaching prizes to 16 UBC Teaching Assistants.
Amount: $1,000
Deadline: The deadline for individual nomination packages is March 4, 2021.
Governor General’s Gold Medal
One gold medal is awarded to the student who has achieved the most outstanding academic record as a doctoral student. A second gold medal is awarded to the graduate student who has achieved most outstanding academic record as a Master’s student completing a thesis.

Deadline: March 12, 2021 at 4:00pm.
