Dr. d’Entremont first joined the Faculty of Applied Science leadership team in August 2024 as Associate Dean pro tem, EDI, where she has led a range of important initiatives focused on EDI and Indigenous engagement. She holds a tenured Professor of Teaching appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and brings a deep and sustained commitment to EDI.I in engineering. In her role as Associate Dean, pro tem, EDI, Dr. d’Entremont led significant developments including improvement to major engagement events, the introduction of new initiatives around anti-oppression, disability and Black excellence and collaborations with other STEM Faculties on shared EDI priorities. She has also worked on strengthening connections with Indigenous communities and helped advance the Indigenous STEM Bridging Program. Dr. d’Entremont’s contributions to EDI.I extend well beyond her Associate Dean role. She has supported student organizations such as Women in Engineering, mentored students, co-developed EDI curriculum for the MECH 2 program and participated in STEM outreach programs for women and girls. She has also built a strong track record of scholarship, particularly around gender and decisions on entering engineering and selecting disciplines, EDI.I in curriculum, and STEM outreach. In addition, she brings valuable experience in student engagement that will be central to her expanded mandate.
