When you connect with UBC Applied Science students, you are gaining access to future technical talent. We offer several different opportunities for you to get involved in order to give back or become a choice employer to our outstanding students.
Hire a co-op student
Over 2,500 talented Applied Science students participate in our co-op program. Students are available for 4, 8-, or 12-month work terms commencing in January, May or September. Post a job today or contact the co-op office for more information.
Volunteer as a mentor with the Engineering Mentoring Program. Share your experiences with students who are defining their career path, expanding their professional network and developing important professional skills.
Become a guest speaker
Every year UBC Engineering hosts a series of workshops and student engagement activities aimed at enhancing student professional development. Get in front of targeted student groups by becoming a guest speaker.
Submit a capstone project
During their final year, most engineering students must complete a major, year-long capstone project. In small teams, they use the knowledge and skills gained during their studies, to solve challenging real-world problems proposed by industry partners. Proposal submission is open May-July annually.
Participate in Design & Innovation Day
At Design and Innovation Day, students who have recently completed their capstone projects will have the opportunity to showcase their solution to their peers, professors, and industry. This is UBC Engineering’s largest showcase of the year, featuring projects across the engineering undergraduate programs. Provide students with valuable industry insights by becoming a project judge. Design and Innovation Day is typically held in April of each year.
Attend a networking event
From discipline-specific networking events to the annual Engineering Undergraduate Society’s Career Fair, the Faculty of Applied Science offers many opportunities for organizations to connect with our emerging talent.
