Overview
The Student Fund to Advance Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Indigeneity (EDI.I) is a pilot fund from the Faculty of Applied Science (APSC) to support student-led initiatives that advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigeneity within and across APSC programs and departments. Funded projects must align with one or more of the following guiding frameworks and strategic documents: the Faculty of Applied Science Strategic Plan, the Indigenous Strategic Plan (ISP), the Strategic Equity and Anti-Racism (StEAR) Framework, and the Accessibility & Inclusion Action Research (AIAR) Toolkit. Each project can receive up to $1000 and a total of $10,000 has been allocated for this fund for the 2026 cycle.
Eligibility Criteria
- Activities and projects must be student-initiated and aim to enhance equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigeneity (EDI.I) within the Faculty of Applied Science.
- Proposals can only be submitted by APSC students (undergraduate and graduate students); i.e., the lead applicant must be an APSC student. Co-applicants may include faculty, staff, or students from other Faculties.
- Project beneficiaries should consist of a majority (>50%) APSC students.
- Projects must be completed within one year of funding approval.
- Each funding request must be $1000 or less, and a single principal applicant will not receive funding for more than one initiative.
- These funds are not intended to support travel to conferences or competitions, the consumption of alcohol, personalized merchandise, or payment to fund applicants.
- Funding will be distributed primarily on a reimbursement basis.
- Initiatives that have received funding through other sources will not normally be funded through this mechanism as well, unless the applicant can make a clear case for additional activities that are new and separate from the original funded activities. Other funds that APSC students have available for EDI.I initiatives include:
