Last Saturday, UBC SALA alumni gathered at Avenue One’s lounge in Olympic Village for a joyous reunion. The evening started with a dance performance by Mascall Dance Society, followed by a beautiful arrangement of delicious salad rolls, from classic shrimp to marinated lemongrass tofu and pickled daikon with home grown herbs.
The venue was open, bright, and boasted high ceilings with chandelier lights and a semi-public garden space. A creative, warm, and inviting atmosphere was made with the lightning of a few candles as well. As old and new friends reconnected, laughter and animated conversations filled the air.
The highlight of the night was a mobile performance delivered on a truck. With an upright piano in the back, a pick-up truck pulled up into the driveway of Avenue One’s apartment complex, while a pianist played Beethoven and a contemporary dancer captivated the audience with her movement. The public driveway was enjoyed by both residences, SALA alumni, as well as passersby who decided to stop and enjoy the enchanting show.
As the evening drew to a close, guests lingered, reluctant to leave the magical ambiance and renewed connections. The alumni party had rekindled old friendships and created new memories, leaving everyone with full hearts and a promise to return next year for another joyful celebration!
