Sandy Laird

Lifetime career in mine development and operations, thirty nine with Placer Dome and its predecessor companies.

Twenty years involvement with UBC Mining Engineering including chairing Industry Advisory Committee, teaching open pit mine design course to 4th year students, fundraising for the Blue Evans Student Support Endowment Fund. Created and funded two Sandy Laird Service Awards in Mining Engineering for second year students including selecting and mentoring winners each year.

1997/98 President of Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.
