
Rabab Ward
Rabab Kreidieh Ward was born in Beirut, Lebanon. She was the first woman to be appointed as professor in engineering in British Columbia. She has around 40 years of post-doctoral experience in academic education, research and leadership. Her research interests are mainly in broad areas of signal processing and their applications . She has published around 500 papers in refereed journals and conferences and holds six patents. Some of her work has been licensed to US and Canadian industry. She has supervised to completion 38 Ph.D. and 43 Master students. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the IEEE , the Canadian Academy of Engineers and the Engineering Institute of Canada. Amongst her large number of awards are the UBC Senior Killam Mentoring Award and UBC Killam Research Prize. She has served and provided leadership to IEEE and other professional societies and is presently the President of the IEEE Signal Processing Society.
