
Moura Quayle
Moura’s scholarly interests lie in rethinking, refining and rebuilding collaborative spaces at the intersections of academia, government, business and civil society. This rethinking, achieved through strategic design and designed leadership, informed Moura’s position as UBC Vancouver’s Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Academic Affairs from 2020 to 2024. Prior to that, she was the Professor and founding Director of UBC’s School of Public Policy and Global Affairs (2017 to 2019).
Moura has been Deputy Minister of the B.C. Ministry of Advanced Education, B.C. Commissioner of Pacific Coast Collaborative, Dean of UBC’s Faculty of Land and Food Systems, Associate VP, Academic Programs at UBC Okanagan, and Director of the Liu Institute for Global Issues prior to her role as Director pro tem of the UBC School of Public Policy and Global Affairs.
She received an honorary doctorate from the University of Guelph, and her book, Designed Leadership, was published by Columbia University Press. Recently she co-edited a book written by her late husband, David Fushtey, entitled Principled Governance when Everything Matters. Her interests include learning Mandarin, Chinese calligraphy (shufa) and watercolour painting.
