David Wilkinson

Dr. Wilkinson is an internationally recognized Canadian researcher who has made distinctive and outstanding contributions in the fields of electrochemistry, electrochemical engineering, and clean energy technology covering a wide range of research from fundamental material science and catalysis, to engineering design and operation. He has been recognized as one of the most highly cited global researchers in their subject field and is a leading innovator with over 75 issued US patents. Prior to joining UBC as a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair Dr. Wilkinson held major leadership roles in the commercialization of the world’s first rechargeable lithium AA battery at Moli Energy, the first commercialization of the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC) at Ballard Power Systems, and in helping to establish Canada as a world leader in fuel cell technology. He has received a number of national and international awards, and fellowships for his contributions.
