About

Real Mars missions are complex, and sometimes delayed. But on Earth, UBC students are all systems go for a simulated expedition to the red planet. 

Join us on August 6 in the Hebb building to cheer on sixteen teams of engineering physics students that have worked through the summer to build fully autonomous robots from scratch. The robots will compete in timed two-minute heats to establish a simulated Mars habitat by assembling a radio tower, uncovering a solar panel and building a habitat dome.  

The robots will also search for a hidden aluminum deposit among Martian rocks, and can earn bonus points by flashing a light to detect two tiny Teletubbies figures hiding on the planet’s surface.
