After graduation, life took us in different directions—different cities, even different countries. Staying in touch became harder, and deep conversations felt like a rare luxury. Between job searches, new environments, and the challenges of adulthood, we often ended our messages with, “I miss this,” but couldn’t quite make it happen. This year, that changed. We all found ourselves back in the Vancouver area, and finally, we had the chance to reconnect.
We met up at one of our places, where the hours slipped by in deep, honest conversation. We talked about the real stuff: relationship challenges, the struggles of finding fulfilling work, and the tough process of settling into a completely new country. These are the kinds of things that can feel isolating—but sharing them with people who understand makes all the difference.
Later, we went for a peaceful walk in the rain along the Fraser River. The drizzle felt more soothing than cold, like a gentle reminder that some moments are meant to be slow and reflective. We wrapped up the day with a comforting meal at Haidilao Hot Pot, full of laughter, warmth, and just the right amount of chaos.
It’s not easy to find company where you can be fully yourself—especially when navigating the uncertainties of adult life. But on that rainy day, we were reminded that we’re not alone in our struggles. We have each other, and that’s something to be grateful for.
