Our day at the PNE in Vancouver was a reunion of UBC alumni, each of us eager to relive the carefree moments of our university days while making new memories. The excitement was palpable as we arrived, ready for a day of fun, food, and friendship. The first order of business was, of course, the rides. PNE is known for its wide array of attractions, and we didn’t hold back. From the towering wooden roller coasters to the spinning madness of the Tilt-A-Whirl, we threw ourselves into the thrill of it all. Every scream, laugh, and cheer echoed the joy of being together again. The rides brought out our inner child, and for a few hours, we were back to being carefree students, albeit with slightly better budgets.
After the rides, hunger set in, and we headed for the food stalls. The smell of classic carnival food—burgers, fries, and sugary treats—was irresistible. We settled at a red picnic table under the shade of the trees, our burgers in hand. The attached picture captures this moment perfectly: a group of friends enjoying a simple, hearty meal, surrounded by the buzz of the fair. It was a break from the excitement, but it also felt like a continuation of the joy.
The burgers were delicious, juicy, and just what we needed after the adrenaline rush of the rides. As we ate, we caught up on each other's lives, sharing stories, updates, and lots of laughs. The conversation flowed easily, full of nostalgia and humor. We reminisced about our time at UBC, the late-night study sessions, the campus events, and the countless memories that had shaped our friendships. It was a moment of connection, of realizing that no matter how much time had passed, the bond we shared was as strong as ever.
Reflecting on the day, it was clear that our visit to PNE was more than just a day at the fair. It was a chance to reconnect, to strengthen our bonds, and to create new memories together. The thrill of the rides, the comfort of good food, and the warmth of friendship made it a day to remember. As we said our goodbyes, we all agreed that this should become an annual tradition—one day each year dedicated to celebrating our friendship and the memories we've built together.
