Michael Isaacson

Dr. Michael Isaacson is Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of British Columbia. He served as Head of Civil Engineering at UBC for a five-year term and Dean of Applied Science for an eleven-year term. His primary research interests relate to coastal and ocean engineering. He is the author of over 200 technical papers and co-author of two texts, and he has served as a specialist consultant on a wide variety of local, national and international engineering projects. Dr. Isaacson has been active on many national and international professional committees and boards, including terms as Chair of the National Council of Deans of Engineering and Applied Science and as President of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC. He is the recipient of many national and international honours and awards. Since 2011, Dr. Isaacson has been a member of the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board.
