Elizabeth Croft

BASc’88, Mechanical Engineering

Elizabeth Croft (MECH ’88) is a robotics researcher, internationally recognized for her work in trajectory planning and human-robot interaction. She is a leader in advancing gender diversity in engineering. She launched the UBC Engineering Tri-Mentoring Program and was a founding faculty member for the award winning “Mech 2” undergraduate program. As the NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering BC/Yukon (2010-2015), Elizabeth championed the 60% increase in women students enrolling in engineering at UBC. She founded Westcoast Women in Engineering, Science, and Technology (WWEST), which serves as a hub for recruiting and retaining women in engineering and science careers on Canada’s west coast.  As Associate Dean, she led the lead the development and successful launch of eight new professional programs in Engineering, Planning and Health. Her service and research excellence have been recognized through the awarding of major provincial, national, and international awards. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Engineers Canada.
