
Claudio Arato
Claudio has a B.Sc. (Chemistry) and B.A.Sc. (Chemical Engineering; 1991) from UBC and is CTO for SonoAsh LLC. He is a successful engineer & inventor, co-authoring many patents while working throughout N.America & Mexico. Claudio has lead teams in diverse areas like low carbon cement, cellulosic biofuels & chemicals, nanotechnology, pulp & paper and water treatment.
He has volunteered with APEGBC since 1994 as an elected Councillor, line committees, mentoring new graduates & recent arrivals.
For a decade, Claudio has actively supported the Faculty of Applied Science through the CHBE Industry Advisory Committee, as a regular APSC450 lecturer on innovation & ethics and APSC263 advisor.
He has won the 2010 APEGBC Lambert Award, 2011 Engineers Canada Fellow, 2013 UBC APSC Community Service Award & 2014 Engineers Canada Meritorious Service Award and named the BC/YK Make-A-Wish Volunteer of the Year in 2010. This life exists thanks to the family love of Allison, Tobias & Harper.
