Wendy Hall
Professor Emeritus, School of Nursing
A Professor Emerita in UBC’s School of Nursing, Wendy is a renowned authority on children’s sleep issues over the course of 30 years of research at UBC. Not only has she coordinated the PhD program and acted as Associate Director for Graduate programs, and Assistant Dean in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, but she continues to serve as a voluntary consultant to hundreds of families facing infant sleep problems, and to community groups seeking advice.
By developing interventions to help parents manage children’s sleep problems, Wendy has enhanced parental competence and healthy child development. In addition to supporting public health nurses in British Columbia and Ontario to manage infant sleep problems, Wendy’s media work has helped raise vital public awareness about the importance of sleep for physical and mental health.
In 2016, Wendy’s inspirational leadership and commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching was recognized by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing when she received the Nursing Education Excellence Award.
