
Martha Salcudean
Was born and educated in Romania. Immigrated to Canada in 1976. Worked briefly at McGill University and after at the University of Ottawa where she was a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering. In 1985 she was appointed Head of Mechanical Engineering at the University of British Columbia. Her research are is mathematical modelling of industrial processes. She is a Fellow of the Canadian Engineering Academy, a Fellow of the Canadian Royal Society, has been awarded the Killam prize for Engineering. She has a Honorary Doctorates from the University of Ottawa, from the University of British Columbia and the University of Vancouver. She has the Order of British Columbia and is an Officer of the Order of Canada.
