
Krishan D. Srivastava
K.D. Srivastava was invited to UBC in 1983 to become the Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering. From 1986-1994 he served as Vice-President of Student and Academic Services. As Professor and Vice-President Emeritus he has continued his academic work at UBC, including obtaining a $22 million grant in 2000 which he then administered as Project Coordinator for the UBC Institute for Computer, Information and Cognitive Systems. In 2003-2005 he co-chaired a joint Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Committee for the BC government. From 2005-2007 he was founding Provost and Senior Vice-President of the University of Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies, the country’s first national university. His research is in the field of energy systems, with a special interest in High Voltage Engineering, Electrical Insulation Engineering, Gaseous Discharges, and Canadian Critical Infrastructures Interdependencies under Emergencies.
