Jack Van Der Star

Jack Van der Star is recognized as a world class telecommunications systems engineer. In his career Jack has undertaken integrated communications networks with application in broadband, telephony, mobile, smart meters, transit systems, video on demand and satellite horse race networks. Jack is a respected industry advisor, often being asked to speak at conferences.

Jack currently oversees highly integrated telecommunications systems for large petrochemical projects, assists power companies deploy smart meter networks and is retained for the SkyTrain Radio System on the new Evergreen Line.

Jack Van der Star previously founded a radio manufacturing company and was the CTO for a Silicon Valley based millimetre wave radio company.

Jack is Co-Chair of the Innovation Okanagan Network (ION) a group that successfully made the case for an Engineering School at UBCO and was a founding director of the Okanagan Valley Research & Innovation Centre (ORIC) which is now Accelerate Okanagan.
