
Harold Copping
After graduating, Harold and Joan moved to Montreal, Harold being hired by Union Carbide’s Chemicals and Plastics Division. Three years later, with two wee boys, the Coppings returned home to Vancouver. Harold continued in manufacturing, now of paper packaging products. Inspired by promotions to production management positions, and having a family with three sons, he studied for an MBA degree in evenings. Then in1976 he was recruited to become General Manager, of a local firm acquired by Teleflex Incorporated (USA). As GM, and later President, Harold and his Teleflex Canada team became one of the top performing Teleflex Inc. subsidiaries, profitably averaging 20% annual growth by developing, producing and marketing specialized hydraulics and fuel controls for marine, industrial and military applications. Since retiring in 2003, Harold has been providing management consulting services to CEO’s. He is proud that Teleflex Canada, now renamed “SeaStar Solutions”, still thrives.
