David Dreisinger

David Dreisinger joined UBC in 1984 and is currently professor and Chair of the Industrial Research Chair in Hydrometallurgy. The Chair is currently supported by 18 Industrial Companies and is an important bridge between theory and practice. David has published over 250 papers, co-edited 10 conference proceeding books and been granted 18 US Patents for his research work (together with students, staff and industrial colleagues). David is a co-inventor of a number of commercial processes including the Mount Gordon Copper Process, the Sepon Copper Process, the PLATSOL Process and the Starved Acid Leaching Technology (SALT) for recovery of nickel from saprolite ores. David has received many Awards and is a fellow of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CIM) and the Canadian Academy of Engineering. He is the 2016 winner of the Wadsworth Award from the AIME for his work in Hydrometallurgy.
