
Axel Meisen
Dr. Axel Meisen is a strategic consultant and advisor to both private- and public-sector clients. He focuses on the identification and interaction of fundamental forces that shape the long-term future of organizations and communities in Canada and abroad. This work creates novel insights that guides organizational strategies.
He held the inaugural Chair in Foresight at Alberta Innovates-Technology Futures (2008 to 2012), prior to which he served as president of Memorial University of Newfoundland (1999 to 2008), and Dean of Applied Science (1985 to 1997) and Professor of Chemical Engineering at UBC (1969 to 1999). A fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Chemical Institute of Canada, and the Institution of Engineers of Ireland, Dr. Meisen is a professional engineer (P.Eng.) and European engineer (EurIng). He is a member of the Order of Canada. He resides with his wife Barbara in Edmonton.
