UBC to offer Canada's first blockchain training path for grad students
In January 2020, UBC will launch the Graduate Specialization in Blockchain and Decentralized Trust Technologies: a two-year, non-degree training program that will offer existing master’s and doctoral students personalized learning in the blockchain field.
Supported by Mitacs and 15 industry partners, including flagship partner Boehringer Ingelheim (Canada) Ltd., the new graduate pathway is expected to give participating students the multidisciplinary knowledge and skills to manage blockchain projects, develop a business case for blockchain systems, and design and develop blockchain solutions and mechanisms, among other things.
APSC-affiliated faculty members involved in the program are:
Alexandra Federova – Associate Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering
Chen Feng – Blockchain@UBC Co-Cluster Lead, Assistant Professor, School of Engineering
Victor Leung – Professor Emeritus, Electrical and Computer Engineering
Jane Wang – Professor, Electrical and Computer Engineering
Faculty members involved in the program who are affiliated with the Institute for Computing, Information and Cognitive Systems, which provided early financial, logistical, and other support to the blockchain research cluster at UBC, are:
