After work, the four of us decided to make the most of the sunny Vancouver weather with a spontaneous bike ride through downtown. We all graduated from UBC Engineering and conveniently all work downtown, so after grinding in the office all day, we saw the opportunity to go for a ride together. No plans, no agenda — just grab our bikes and see where we end up.
The ride was super chill and scenic. We met up downtown and just started riding, making it up as we went. The weather was perfect after work, not too hot and not too cold. We looped around Stanley Park and along the seawall, mostly debating where we should end up for dinner.
Eventually, we finally came to the conclusion to go to Big Way Hot Pot, which has exploded in popularity across Metro Vancouver. After a couple of hours on bikes, sitting down to some malatang felt like the best way to recuperate all the calories we burned. We loaded up our bowls, with David once again taking the crown for the biggest and most expensive one.
We talked about everything from work to old UBC memories and the capstone project we did together. It was a great night filled with laughter and the same bromance we had back when we were at UBC. Shoutout to the UBC Engineering Alumni Grant for supporting moments like this. It gave us the perfect excuse to spend some quality time together outside of the office.
