Join the APSC EDI.I Office for a guided tour of the Museum of Anthropology (MOA), facilitated by MOA Guides, who will lead participants through the museum's collections while exploring Indigenous histories, cultures, and ways of knowing through a decolonial lens. Held in advance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation , this experiential learning opportunity invites critical reflection on the evolving role of museums in reconciliation, Indigenous perspectives on cultural representation, and the ongoing impacts of colonialism.
Participants will receive a paper with prompts to use throughout the tour, providing space to record observations and respond to reflective questions following the experience. These prompts are intended to support participants' decolonial learning and encourage deeper engagement with the tour content.
Please bring your UBC Card as it is required for complimentary admission to the museum. Participants without a valid UBC Card will be responsible for paying the admission fee. Registration is limited to 38 participants and is open to everyone at UBC.
Large bags, backpacks, and food and drink are not allowed in the Museum Galleries and need to be checked in storage bins or lockers (for $0.25); valuables such as wallets and cameras should be taken with you and not left in storage bins. Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in and put away any large bags before the tour begins.
