After graduating with a degree in Geological Engineering from UBC in 1973, Allan began a successful and varied consulting career. He joined Westcoast Energy as an engineer in 1979, later rising to the position of President, Pipeline Division.
Following 19 years at Westcoast Energy, during which he earned an Executive MBA, Allan oversaw the construction of a major 3,800 km high-pressure natural gas pipeline from northeastern BC to an extraction facility near Chicago. After successfully delivering the project, Allan became President and CEO of Alliance Pipeline.
Allan founded his own consulting company, ALE Energy Inc., in 2005 and since then served on various boards, including the Alberta Securities Commission and publicly traded Canadian companies, Emera Inc., Pembina Pipeline Corp. and AltaGas Ltd.
A committed and deeply valued supporter of UBC’s engineering students, Allan has established an endowed bursary in honour of his father, Les, a Civil Engineering graduate, as well as his own bursary in Geological Engineering.
